Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least two prisoners who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and drug-related offences and sentenced to death were carried out in Shiraz Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners were hanged at dawn on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, in Shiraz Prison. The identities of the prisoners, “Habib Zare” and “Fayez Abusheh”, have been verified by Breathing in Confinement.

Habib Zare, a resident of Marvdasht, had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on a charge of “murder”. Fayez Abusheh, from Bandar Pol, had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on drug-related charges. The execution was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, in Shiraz Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
