Breathing in Confinement: The death sentences of at least two prisoners, who had previously been arrested on charges related to drug offences and sentenced to death by the judiciary, were carried out in Yazd Prison.
According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners were hanged in Yazd Prison in the early hours of Tuesday, 16 June. The identities of the prisoners have been confirmed as Omar Shahbakhsh and Ghafour Shahbakhsh.
According to the report, Omar Shahbakhsh, 24, and Ghafour Shahbakhsh, 25, both from Kourin, near Zahedan, were arrested five years ago in a joint case on charges related to drug offences and were subsequently sentenced to death. The sentences were carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, 16 June 2026, in Yazd Prison.
