Breathing in Confinement — The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on a charge of “murder,” was carried out in Qezel Hesar Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Wednesday, 7 January 2026, a prisoner was executed in Qezel Hesar Prison. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Yazdan Elahiyari.
Yazdan Elahiyari, aged 32, the father of two daughters, had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of murdering his wife. However, he never admitted to the murder at any stage of the judicial process. He was transferred to solitary confinement on Sunday, 3 January 2026, in preparation for the execution. The sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, in Qezel Hesar Prison.
