Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Saturday, July 27, 2024, five prisoners, including a female prisoner, were executed in Parsilon Prison in Khorramabad. The identities of three of them had previously been confirmed. The the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran has recently confirmed the identity of another prisoner. Pouya Mahdour Moguyi was one of these prisoners, who was sentenced to death on “drug related charges”.

According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Saturday, July 27, 2024, Pouya Mahdour Moguyi, along with four other prisoners, was executed in Parsilon Prison, Khorramabad.

According to the reporter of the Breathing in Confinement, Pouya Mahdour Moguyi, son of Ehsan, from the village of Darband, was arrested three years ago on charges related to “drug offenses” and sentenced to death.

Previously, “Breathing in Confinement” had reported the execution of five prisoners. According to this report, Ardeshir Maleki, son of Mohammad Hossein, Azim Amraei, Farrokh Nejad, and a woman whose identity has not yet been identified, were executed at dawn on Saturday, July 27. The report mentions that Ardeshir Maleki was executed despite his sentence being halted.

With the identification of this prisoner, the number of executed individuals from July 20 to August 20 has reached 129, which is unprecedented in recent years.

As of the time of this writing, the execution of these prisoners has not been announced by official resources.

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
