Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death was carried out in Bandar Abbas Central Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Tuesday, 19 August, a prisoner was executed in Bandar Abbas Central Prison. His identity has been confirmed by this human rights organisation as Majid Pour Eshagh.
Majid Pour Eshagh, from Bandar Abbas, had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out at dawn on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, in Bandar Abbas Central Prison. The news of his execution had earlier been reported with incomplete identification, which is now corrected.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
