Identity of the Fourth Prisoner Executed on Tuesday in Ghezel Hesar Prison Confirmed

Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least four prisoners who had been arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to death were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on the morning of Tuesday, 16 September 2025, four prisoners were hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison. The identities of these prisoners, “Masoud Takhtizadeh, Majid Hosseini, Mansour Avakhtizadeh, and Akbar Emami,” have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. The previous day, Breathing in Confinement had already reported the identities of three of these prisoners.
Masoud Takhtizadeh, from Kuhdasht; Majid Hosseini, from Zardalan in Ilam Province; Mansour Okhtizadeh, son of Torab, from the village of Qazi Chah in Kuhdasht; and Akbar Emami, son of Omid Beg, from Nurabad, had all previously been arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to death. Their sentences were carried out at dawn on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, in Ghezel Hesar Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
