Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least three prisoners who had been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death were carried out in Kermanshah Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Sunday, 21 September 2025, three prisoners were hanged in Kermanshah Prison. The identities of “Kazem Jameh Shourani” and “Saeed Ghobadi” have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. In addition, according to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, the death sentence of another prisoner, “Hadi Nowruzi,” was carried out at the same time.
Kazem Jameh Shourani, son of Rostam Beg, 27, from Kermanshah, had been arrested a year and a half ago on the charge of murdering his cousin and was sentenced to death. Saeed Ghobadi, son of Ghobad, from the village of Dolangan Olya in Sarpol-e Zahab County, had been arrested seven years ago on the charge of murdering his wife and was sentenced to death. Hadi Nowruzi had also previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death. Their executions were carried out at dawn on Sunday, 21 September 2025, in Kermanshah Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
