Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least two prisoners who had been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death were carried out in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Sunday, 31 August, two prisoners were executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz. Their identities have been confirmed by this human rights organisation as Armin Reyhani and Esmaeil Dalavari Shouli.
Armin Reyhani, from Shiraz, had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death.
Esmaeil Dalavari Shouli, 25, also from Shiraz, had earlier been arrested on a charge of “murder” of an individual named Ahmadi and sentenced to death. Efforts by his friends and family to obtain consent from the victim’s relatives were unsuccessful, and the sentence was carried out at dawn on Sunday, 31 August 2025, in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
