Breathing in Confinement: On the morning of Saturday, 12 August 2024, the execution of four prisoners, two of whom had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of “murder,” was carried out in Tabriz Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the execution of four prisoners was carried out in Tabriz Prison on the morning of Monday, 12 August 2024. The identities of two of them have been confirmed as Mohammad Ansari from the village of Qeshlaq near Tabriz and Ali Mahdavian from the city of Hashtrud. Breathing in Confinement had previously reported the execution of Mohammad Ansari Qeshlaq, son of Allahverdi.
The identities of two Afghan nationals who were also executed are still under investigation. Ali Mahdavian had been detained for three years, and Mohammad Ansari had been detained for four years before being sentenced to death.
As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by official sources.
