Breathing in Confinement: On the dawn of Thursday, September 26, 2024, the execution sentence of three prisoners, including a juvenile defendant who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death, was carried out in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
According to a report by Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Thursday morning, September 26, 2024, a juvenile defendant, along with two other prisoners, was executed in Isfahan Prison. The identities of the prisoners, Mahmoud Ataei Neko Abadi, Amir Parsa Hassan Zadeh, and Asghar Mirian, have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. The execution of Mahmoud Ataei Neko Abadi was reported by Breathing in Confinement on Thursday.
According to Breathing in Confinement citing an informed source, one of the executed prisoners on Thursday, Amir Parsa Hassan Zadeh, was a 21-year-old juvenile defendant who was 17 years and 6 months old at the time of his arrest and the attributed crime. The identity of the other executed prisoner was Asghar Mirian, who had been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of murder.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these prisoners has not been announced by official resources.
According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
