Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least two prisoners, who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to execution, were carried out at Ghezel Hesar Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Wednesday, 28 January 2026, two prisoners were hanged at Ghezel Hesar Prison. The identities of the executed prisoners have been confirmed as Amirhossein Tavakoli Zanian and Saeed Malekian. Breathing in Confinement had reported the execution of Saeed Malekian the previous day.
Amirhossein Tavakoli Zanian, son of Aliyar, a native of Shahriar, had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death. Saeed Malekian, son of Havassali, also from Shahriar, had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death. The sentences were carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, 28 January 2026, at Ghezel Hesar Prison.
