Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Sunday, 25 May 2025, the death sentences of at least two prisoners were carried out at Qom Central Prison. These individuals had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of “murder.”
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners named Alireza Rezaei and Farhad Farahnak were executed at Qom Prison early Sunday morning. Their identities have been verified by the organisation.
According to this report, Alireza Rezaei, a member of the Shahsavan tribe and a resident of Qom, had been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of murder. Farhad Farahnak, son of Hossein, had also previously been arrested and sentenced to death for “murder.” The executions were carried out in the early hours of Sunday.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
