Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least four prisoners who had been arrested on charges of “murder” and drug-related offences were carried out in Isfahan (Dastgerd) Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, four prisoners were hanged in Isfahan Prison. The identities of the prisoners — Ali Keshavarz, Sajjad Aslani, Ahmad Bakhtiari, and Keyvan Rahmati — have been confirmed. The outlet had reported the executions of two prisoners in Isfahan Prison the previous day.

Ali Keshavarz, from Shiraz, had previously been arrested on a charge related to the transport of narcotics and sentenced to death. Sajjad Aslani had been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. Ahmad Bakhtiari (known as “Taghi Ghasab”), 45, from Rahnan, Isfahan, had been arrested on a charge of “murder” in connection with the killing of a person named Rezaei, reportedly during self-defence against an assault outside his home, and was sentenced to death. Keyvan Rahmati, 27, from Hamedan, had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death. Their sentences were carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, in Isfahan Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
