Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner, previously arrested and sentenced to death on the charge of “corruption on earth” (efsad fel-arz), was carried out at Isfahan Central Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, one prisoner was executed at Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan at dawn on Wednesday, 28 May. His identity has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Mohammad Asadi.

According to an informed source, Mohammad Asadi, a resident of Isfahan, had a total of 17 cases filed against him and had spent nearly seven years in detention and imprisonment over the course of multiple arrests. In his most recent arrest, he was charged with “corruption on earth” and sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, at Isfahan Central Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
