Breathing in Confinement: The death sentences of at least two prisoners who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on murder charges were carried out in Hamedan Prison.
According to reporters of Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners were hanged in Hamedan Prison in the early hours of Wednesday, 17 June. The identities of the prisoners have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Alireza Maleki and Ramin Bagheri.
According to the report, Alireza Maleki had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on murder charges. Ramin Bagheri, a 25-year-old resident of Hamedan, had been arrested for the murder of a man identified as Omid Azimi during a confrontation and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.
The sentences were carried out in Hamedan Prison in the early hours of Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
