Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Wednesday, 11 June 2025, the death sentence of political prisoner Mojahid Korkor was carried out in Sheiban Prison, Ahvaz, on charges of “enmity against God (moharebeh), corruption on earth, and disruption of public order.”

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Abbas Korkori, known as Mojahid Korkor and one of the detainees of the 2022 uprising, was executed in Sheiban Prison early Wednesday morning.

The report states that Mojahid Korkor, a native of Izeh, was subjected to torture and forced confessions after his arrest. He was accused of involvement in a shooting during the public protests in Izeh on 16 November 2022, and charged with the murder of seven people, including Kian Pirfalak, a 10-year-old child. However, the falsity of this accusation was revealed during Kian’s funeral, when his mother publicly stated that security forces were responsible for the shooting that killed Kian and wounded his father.

According to eyewitness accounts and Kian’s family, security agents opened fire on the vehicle of Meysam Pirfalak while he was passing through the street, injuring him and killing Kian along with several protesters. Zeinab Molaei, Kian’s mother, accused officials of inciting tribal division by falsely blaming Mojahid Korkor for the killing. These allegations were repeatedly denied by Kian’s mother, father, and uncle.

Mojahid Korkor had his final visit with his family on Tuesday, the day before his execution.
