Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death was carried out in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Sunday, 31 August, a prisoner was hanged in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz. His identity has been confirmed by this human rights organisation as Esmaeil Dalavar. Breathing in Confinement had previously reported on 19 August that he was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for execution. However, his sentence was twice halted and he was returned to the general ward before being transferred to solitary confinement again last night and executed.
Esmaeil Dalavar, 25, from Shiraz, had earlier been arrested on a charge of “murder” of an individual named Ahmadi and sentenced to death. Efforts by his family and friends to obtain the victim’s relatives’ consent were unsuccessful, and the sentence was carried out at dawn on Sunday, 31 August 2025, in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.
