Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Monday, 2 June 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner previously convicted of drug-related offences was carried out in Kahnooj Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the execution took place at dawn on Monday. The identity of the executed prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Iman Sabeqi.

According to the report, Iman Sabeqi, a 30-year-old from Zahkloot, a district of Jazmourian County in Kerman Province, was arrested six years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. His sentence was carried out at dawn on Monday, 2 June 2025, in Kahnooj Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
