Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Friday, February 28, 2025, a prisoner convicted of murder was executed in public in Esfarayen.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the execution took place in public early Friday morning, February 28, 2025, in Esfarayen. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed as Shoaib Rezapour.
According to a report received by Breathing in Confinement, Shoaib Rezapour was arrested in Esfarayen in the summer of 2022 on murder charges and was sentenced to public execution by Branch 2 of the Criminal Court of Bojnord. An informed source stated that Rezapour committed the murder while was drunk, which could have cast doubt on the death sentence. However, the court issued the execution ruling without considering this factor. The sentence was carried out at dawn on Friday, February 28, in public at Behesht Bridge in Esfarayen.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
