Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Monday, 27 February 2025, the death sentences of at least three prisoners convicted on charges of “enmity against God” (moharebeh) and drug-related offences were carried out in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan. The identities of two of those executed had previously been disclosed.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the execution of three prisoners took place in the early hours of Monday, 27 February 2025, in Isfahan Prison. The identity of the third individual, Hassan Mohammadi Pour, has now been confirmed by the outlet.

As reported by Breathing in Confinement, Hassan Mohammadi Pour, a resident of Isfahan, had previously been arrested on charges of moharebeh (enmity against God) for opening fire during an altercation, and was sentenced to death. Simultaneously, the death sentences of Morteza Jafari and Javad Mohammadkhani—convicted of drug-related offences—were also carried out alongside Mohammadi Pour in the early hours of Monday, 27 February 2025, in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
