Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Sunday, 1 June 2025, the death sentences of at least two prisoners, including a female prisoner previously convicted on drug-related charges, were carried out in Kerman Central Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners were executed in Kerman Central Prison on the morning of Sunday, 1 June. Their identities, Masoumeh Karbakhsh and Mohammadreza Mansouri, have been verified by Breathing in Confinement.

As reported, Masoumeh Karbakhsh, daughter of Ali, a 39-year-old woman from the village of Taqiabad in Ravar, was married and the mother of two daughters aged 7 and 14. She was arrested four years ago on charges related to drug offences and sentenced to death. On 31 December 2024, during transfer for execution, she reportedly sustained a leg fracture for unknown reasons, and the execution was halted. On 1 June 2025, despite the rope breaking during the hanging, her sentence was ultimately carried out by hanging her for the second time.

Mohammadreza Mansouri, a resident of Zarand, whose execution on 1 June 2025 had previously been revealed by Breathing in Confinement, had been arrested five years earlier on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. Both executions were carried out at dawn on Sunday, 1 June 2025, in Shahab Prison, Kerman.
