Seven Prisoners Executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj

Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Wednesday, December 18, the death sentences of at least seven prisoners, previously convicted on charges related to “drug offenses” and “murder,” were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, seven prisoners accused of “drug offenses” and “murder” were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, at dawn on Wednesday, December 18. The identities of the prisoners have been confirmed as Majid Jamshidi, Hassanali Yousefi, Sohrab Ahmadi Pouri, Farzad Norouzi-Khavah, Abdolbari Pakoohi, and Rastegouyi Kandlaj.
Majid Jamshidi, son of Feyzollah, married and from Noorabad, Lorestan, was arrested six years ago on charges related to drug offenses. Hassanali Yousefi, a resident of Delfan, had been transferred to solitary confinement last week, with his execution delayed by one week. Sohrab Ahmadi Pouri, a 73-year-old from Kuhdasht, and Abdolbari Pakoohi, an Afghan national, were both arrested and convicted of drug-related offenses. Farzad Norouzi-Khavah, son of Darvish Ali and a resident of Khorramabad, was arrested and sentenced to death for murder.
Rastegouyi Kandlaj was arrested in 2016 after multiple complaints from women across different areas, accusing him of assaulting and injuring them with a spike, causing widespread fear and panic. The judiciary convicted him of “spreading corruption on Earth” through assaults on women and creating public terror. Rastegouyi Kandlaj, along with another unidentified prisoner, had been transferred from Greater Tehran Prison to Ghezel Hesar Prison for execution.
The executions were carried out at dawn on Wednesday, December 18, in Ghezel Hesar Prison. Breathing in Confinement had reported the transfer of one convict to solitary confinement last week and three more prisoners the day before their execution.
