Breathing in Confinement: On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at least one prisoner convicted of “murder” was transferred to solitary confinement in Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad) in preparation for execution.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner in Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad) has been moved to solitary confinement to await execution. The identity of this prisoner, Amin Maleki, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
Amin Maleki was previously arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death. Reports indicate that his execution is scheduled to take place at Shiraz Central Prison.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
