Breathing in Confinement: On March 3, 2022, after seven years in prison, the authorities of the Islamic Republic executed a prisoner in Dezful Prison on charge of killing the commander of the Hosseinabad Police Station in Shoush.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on March 3, 2022, a prisoner was executed in Dezful Prison on charge of killing Abbas Naderi, commander of the Husseinabad Police Station in Shoush. Breathing in Confinement has identified the prisoner as Firouz Bahrami, 29.
An informed source told the reporter of “Breathing in Confinement”: “Firouz Bahrami was born in 1992. He was arrested after a clash in January 2015, in which the commander of the Hosseinabad police station in Shoush was killed. However, there was no evidence that the murderer was Firouz. He was held in Ahwaz prison since his arrest but was transferred to Dezful Prison a day before his execution.”
The source added: “After 7 years, Firouz Bahrami was executed at 2 am, on March 3, 2022, without a previous notice to his family or even without being given the chance of the last visit. While concurrently Ahmad’s family had been told that they could ask the victim’s relatives for pardon.”
“Security officials executed Bahram Firouzi in Dezful Prison at midnight and then buried him. They did not even allow the Bahram’s family to hold a funeral,” the source added.
According to the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, from March 20, 2021 – March 20, 2022, at least 383 prisoners were executed in various prisons in Iran of which only 34 were reported by the state media and the rest were carried out in secret.
