According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least three prisoners were executed on the morning of Sunday, November 24, 2024, in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, for “drug-related crimes.” The identities of two of these prisoners, Masoud Jafari and Hossein Souri, have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. The identity of the third individual, an Afghan national, is under investigation.
According to a Breathing in Confinement reporter, Masoud Jafari, 25 years old, the son of Baba Ali from Noorabad Lorestan, was arrested five years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. Breathing in Confinement reported yesterday the transfer of Masoud Jafari to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution. Hossein Souri, originally from Kuhdasht, was elderly. According to a reliable source, these two prisoners were taken from Ghezel Hesar Prison, and the third prisoner (an Afghan national) was transferred from Karaj Central Detention Center to carry out the sentences. These three prisoners were executed at dawn on Sunday, November 24, in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.
