Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the death sentences of at least three prisoners convicted of drug-related charges were carried out in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the executions took place early on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Mashhad Central Prison. The identities of the executed prisoners have been confirmed as: Abdolghafar Barahouei (Lajei), Parviz Dastkaleh (Lajei), and Abdolsamad Gorgij.
As reported by Breathing in Confinement, citing Haalvsh, Abdolghafar Barahouei (Lajei), aged 47, and Parviz Dastkaleh (Nooraldin Lajei), aged 40, both sons of Mohammad from Zahedan, were arrested in a joint case in 2021 on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death. Abdolsamad Gorgij (Rigi), aged 39, son of Molla Babaddin and a resident of Zahedan’s Bazaar Moshtarak, was arrested in 2021 on similar charges and also sentenced to death. The executions were carried out at dawn on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
