Two Prisoners Executed in Arak Prison

Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Sunday, 4th August 2024, the execution of two prisoners convicted of drug-related charges was carried out in Arak Central Prison.

According to “Breathing in Confinement,” quoting the human rights organization Hengaw, on Sunday, 4th August 2024, the execution of Mehdi Hosseini from Arak and Amir Tasbihi from Saveh was carried out in Arak Central Prison.

According to an informed source, Mehdi Hosseini was arrested six years ago, and Amir Tasbihi was arrested two years ago for drug-related charges and sentenced to death.

So far, the execution of these prisoners has not been announced by official sources.

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
