Two Prisoners Executed in Jiroft Prison; One Executed Despite Obtaining Pardon/ Evidence

Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Monday, October 21, 2024, the execution of at least two prisoners who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death was carried out in Jiroft Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Monday, October 21, 2024, two prisoners were executed in Jiroft Prison. Breathing in Confinement has identified these prisoners as Mohammad Farhadzadeh and Hamid Chatrsimabeh.
According to a Breathing in Confinement reporter, Mohammad Farhadzadeh was arrested 10 years ago, and Hamid Chatrsimabeh was arrested 6 years ago, both in separate cases on charges of “murder,” and both were sentenced to death.
According to an informed source: “Hamid Chatrseemeh was involved in the same case as Mahmoud Bamri, and both were accused of killing a police officer. Despite paying blood money and obtaining a pardon from the victim’s family, both prisoners were executed within a week of each other.”

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
