Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Monday, November 4, 2024, the execution of two prisoners convicted of murder and drug-related charges was carried out in Kahnuj Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners were executed at dawn on Monday, November 4, 2024, in Kahnuj Prison. The identities of these prisoners, Mansour Rastakhiz and Yousef Ahmadi, have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
According to a report from Breathing in Confinement, Yousef Ahmadi had previously been arrested on charges of premeditated murder and sentenced to death. According to an informed source, Ahmadi committed the murder due to honor-related issues and was ultimately executed as victim’s family declined to pardon him. Mansour Rastakhiz had previously been detained on drug-related charges and was held in Menujan Prison. He was transferred to Kahnuj Prison last week for the execution and was executed there alongside Yousef Ahmadi on Monday morning.

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
