Breathing in Confinement: Afshar Moheb, an Azeri activist in Ardabil Prison, ended his hunger strike on Wednesday, January 5th. He had gone on  hunger strike on Sunday, January 2, in protest of the case investigator’s refusal to accept his bail and temporary release.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, Afshar Moheb, an Azeri activist imprisoned in Ardabil Prison, ended his hunger strike.

 

Afshar Moheb ended his hunger strike with a promise from the authorities to accept his bail and proceed his case.

 

The Azerbaijani activist went on a hunger strike on Sunday, January 2, 2022, to protest the refusal of the case investigator to accept his bail and temporary release.

 

On December 22, 2021, after being summoned to Branch 3 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Ardabil, Mr. Moheb was charged with “propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic of Iran in support of the opposition groups and organizations”. He was later transferred to Ardabil Central Prison.

 

Afshar Moheb was arrested by security forces on January 23, 2021, while leaving his workplace and was released from the Ardabil Intelligence Office a few hours later.
