Appeal Court sentences three members of the Board of Directors of Qazvin Teachers’ Trade Association to pay fine

Breathing in Confinement – Appeal court sentenced Mohammad Reza Behnamnejad, Maryam Zirak, and Soheila Zalbeigi, three members of the Board of Directors of Teachers’ Trade Association in Qazvin Province to pay fine. The three had previously been sentenced to 24 months in prison by Qazvin Revolutionary Court on charges of “propaganda against the government”.
In appeal court, Mohammad Reza Behnamnejad, Maryam Zirak, and Soheila Zalbeigi, three members of the board of directors of the Teachers’ Trade Association in Qazvin Province, were sentenced to pay a total fine of 12 million tomans, Qazvin branch of the association reported.
It is noteworthy that following a nationwide sit-down of teachers during the past year, protesting the neglect of educational system’s demands such as lack of fair funding, schools per capita, free education and inadequate living conditions of teachers, On March 3, the cellphone and computer of Mohammad Reza Behnamnejad, Maryam Zirak and Soheila Zalbigi were seized and a lawsuit was filed against them. These activists’ case was finally referred to Qazvin Revolutionary Court on bail of 450 million tomans.
