Mehrdad Bakhtiari sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment

Breathing in Confinement: Mehrdad Bakhtiari, the uncle of Pouya Bakhtiari, one of the protesters killed in the November 2019 uprising, has been sentenced by the Karaj Revolutionary Court to six years of imprisonment, two years of travel ban, and two years of exile to Shahr-e Kord.
According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Mehrdad Bakhtiari has been sentenced to imprisonment and supplementary penalties.
Mehrdad Bakhtiari announced on his page on social media that he has been sentenced by Branch One of the Karaj Revolutionary Court to one year of imprisonment for the charge of propaganda against the system and to five years of imprisonment for the charge of conspiracy and rebellion against national security, along with two years of travel ban and two years of exile to Shahr-e Kord.
The trial for Mr. Bakhtiari, the uncle of Pouya Bakhtiari, one of the protesters killed in the November 2019 uprising, was held on February 17, in the aforementioned branch under the chairmanship of Judge Seyed Musa Asef al-Hosseini.
Mehrdad Bakhtiari was detained and transferred to Rajaee Shahr Prison in Karaj after releasing a video about the arrest of Mrs. Shirpisheh, Pouya Bakhtiari’s mother, and sharing images of broken locks at her home on July 11, 2022.
He was released on bail on September 3, 2022.
