Milad Eftekhari sentenced to 3 years in prison for his activities on social media

Breathing in Confinement: Milad Eftekhari, born in 1996, from the City of Beirom, graduated in Communication Sciences from Tehran University, was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz to 3 years in prison. He as well was banned from activities on social media.

According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Milad Eftekhari, from the City of Beirom, graduate in Communication Sciences from Tehran University, was sentenced to 3 years in prison and banned from activities on social media by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz. Considering the Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, if the sentence is approved, 2 years of which will be applicable to him.

Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz, sentenced Milad Eftekhari  to 1 year in prison on charge of “propaganda activity against the regime”, 2 years of imprisonment for “insulting the Supreme Leader on social media”, as well as 2 years of ban from leaving the country and of any activities on social media.

The trial of Milad Eftekhari was held on July 12, 2022, by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz, the capital of Fars province.

On May 23, 2021, the security forces arrested Milad Eftekhari after searching his home and confiscating some of his personal belonging including his mobile phone and his flash memories. He was transferred to a Detention Center and after the interrogation was temporarily released from Larestan Prison on May 30, 2021, with a bail of 100 million tomans.

On June 22, 2021, after summoning Milad Eftekhari and re-interrogating him, the IRGC Intelligence Department threatened him of framing him up with a new case because of his posts on social media criticizing Ali Khamenei. They  finally released him after taking a pledge.
