Breathing in Confinement – As executions continue at an accelerated pace and the heavy shadow of death sentences hangs over society, the Tuesdays Against Execution campaign once again raised its voice of protest in its eighty-fourth week from inside 51 prisons across the country. The participation of prisoners in Langarud Prison, Qom marks another sign of solidarity and collective resistance against the relentless cycle of death and repression.

This campaign, launched with the slogan of life and human dignity, has now become a symbol of perseverance and unity, and each week stands as a clear message of resistance and justice in the face of widespread, ongoing executions.

Statement of the political prisoners

“The continuation of the Tuesdays Against Execution’ campaign in 51 prisons during the eighty-fourth week…”
“Joining of Langarud Prison, Qom, to the campaign.”

“We are approaching the 40th day since the cowardly execution of Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani — two political prisoners whose families and friends, 36 days later, still have no knowledge of their burial place. This inhumane act, which amounts to enforced disappearance and torture of bereaved families, is part of the ongoing pattern of human rights violations in Iran.

The widespread and brutal executions carried out each week in our country — with a disturbing figure of 39 executions in the past week alone, including two women prisoners, and 704 executions since the beginning of this Persian calendar year — are not only a flagrant violation of fundamental human rights but also a sign of bloody repression and the regime’s attempt to preserve power by instilling fear and silencing the voices of freedom and justice.

Despite all this, we believe that the place of the victims of such injustice is not in the soil of oblivion but in the hearts of every free Iranian. Their blood continues to flow in the veins of the youth, and their path remains a beacon of hope for a future without executions and violence.

With the joining of prisoners from Langarud Prison, Qom in the eighty-fourth week, the number of prisons participating in the ‘Tuesdays Against Execution’ campaign has risen to 51, demonstrating the widespread resistance of prisoners and society in confronting executions.

The campaign is determined to remain the voice of bereaved families, prisoners, and all freedom-seeking people until the complete abolition of death sentences in Iran and the guarantee of respect for human rights and justice.

Finally, the campaign expresses its sincere condolences on the passing of one of its supporters, Mr Vali Danshvar Kar, father of political prisoner Shahrokh Danshvar Kar, who played an active role in solidarity gatherings. Our sympathies go to his family and to all supporters and members of the campaign.”
