Breathing in Confinement: On the morning of Monday, January 31, 2022, concurrently with the nationwide protest gathering of teachers, Jabbar Dosti, a member of Kurdistan Teachers’ Union, was arrested in Marivan.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Monday, January 31, 2022, concurrently with the nationwide gathering of teachers, Jabbar Dosti, a member of the Kurdistan Teachers’ Union, was arrested in Marivan.
At the same time, Mohammad Ali Zahmatkesh, a member of the Fars Teachers’ Union, was also arrested.
It should be noted that on Saturday and Sunday, January 29 and 30, in response to the call of the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Unions, teachers across the country went on strike to protest the government’s non-compliance with their demands. Teachers will also hold nationwide rallies in front of the Education Departments in various cities and provinces on Monday, January 31st.
Over the past one year, teachers’ widespread protests have been ongoing demanding the equalization of the salaries of employed and retired teachers, the release of imprisoned teachers and equal and free education.
