Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at least 11 protest gatherings were held.
According to the Statistical Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Breathing in Confinement, on Sunday, September 29, 2024, retirees from Steel Factories in Ahvaz and Isfahan, and Social Security retirees from Kermanshah, Shush, Tehran, Ahvaz, and Rasht protested against poor living conditions, poverty, inflation, and high prices. They demanded better pensions, welfare services, free healthcare, and other unmet needs. They also expressed solidarity with miners following the death of miners in Tabas. Among the slogans were: “Condolences to Tabas miners,” “Imprisoned workers must be freed,” “Imprisoned teachers must be freed,” “Livelihood and health are our undeniable rights,” and “Lying government, where are the results of your promises?”
Oil industry retirees from Ahvaz and Bushehr gathered in front of the Ministry of Oil in Tehran, protesting poor living conditions and demanding their rights, chanting slogans like: “The submissive administration brings only inflation,” and “The submissive administration brings poverty and corruption. No charity, no favor, give us our rightful pay with dignity.”
Workers at Madkosh Steel in Bandar Abbas held a strike and protest against low wages and delays in receiving their salaries and benefits. They also blocked roads leading to the factory.
Applicants of the National Housing Project in the Kouy-e Kosar area of Arak protested in front of the Roads and Urban Development Department over unfair pricing, delays in delivering their units, and lack of response from officials, chanting: “Incompetent officials, be ashamed.”
Similarly, National Housing Project applicants in Sabzevar held a protest over pricing disputes and delays in receiving their units.
