Breathing in Confinement – At least three protest gatherings were held in different parts of the country.
Municipal workers of District 2 in Zahedan gathered in front of the municipality building demanding payment of their overdue wages. They reported that they have not received salaries for five months, which has created serious livelihood problems for their families. The protesters stressed that the continuation of this situation has severely disrupted their daily lives.
Industrial workers in Kheirabad Industrial Zone, Arak also held a protest against frequent and prolonged power outages. According to them, repeated blackouts have not only halted production lines and reduced productivity but also put the future of many industrial units and workers at risk. Protesters also criticised the export of electricity to neighbouring countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq, emphasising that while domestic production units face energy shortages and shutdowns, priority should be given to meeting internal needs.
In Eslamshahr, a group of citizens gathered to protest recurring power cuts. The demonstrators spoke about the impact of blackouts on daily life, small businesses, and even the health of vulnerable individuals.
These protests reflect widespread public dissatisfaction with the country’s economic conditions, governance, and infrastructure – discontent expressed in different locations and voices but with a common theme: pressure on people’s lives and unaddressed demands.
