Behnam Ebrahimzadeh transferred to ward 1 of Rajai Shahr Prison

Breathing in Confinement – Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, labour activist imprisoned in Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, was transferred to ward 1 of that prison.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, this member of Committee for following the establishment of independent labour organizations had been transferred to the court on 4th December and after the court he was sent to ward 1 instead of ward 12. Ward one is allocated to prisoners with death sentences.

He has been charged with “Issuing statements inside prison” in that court, while there is no such accusation in the Penal Code.

This is to say, he was supposed to be transferred to court on 1st December, but because as he was beaten by the prison guards and his face was wounded, this labour activist’s hearing was postponed.

On 1st December, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh was asked by prison guards to get complete undressed for a physical inspection when leaving the prison, and then the officers beat him severely and took out his clothes offensively.

Formerly, on 4th September, after 24 days hunger strike and 2 days of “dry” Hunger strike (including water and food) Behnam Ebrahimzadeh had been transferred to political prisoners’ ward from Common Crime prisoners’ ward in Rajaishahr prison.

It should be mentioned that, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, a labor activist has been charged with “Gathering and collusion” by the Revolutionary Court and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and he is serving the 4th year of his sentence. He was arrested by the security forces on 12th June 2010, and had been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the Revolutionary court and then his sentence was reduced by the appeal court to 5 years.

Prisoners
