Overintense security atmosphere in the assembly of the army and state retirees; detention of more than a dozen of them

Breathing in Confinement – This morning, November 12, 2019, in an overintense security atmosphere, a number of retirees were detained in a protest rally of state and army retirees in Baharestan Square in Tehran.

According to Breathing in Confinement, news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, this morning in the gathering of the state and army retirees, a number of retirees were arrested by the security forces.

“Demanding our rights, we were going to gather in a summoned protest assembly in front of the parliament. However, we faced an overintense security atmosphere, as the number of police forces was as twice as ours, either in uniforms or in casual clothes. And some of them attacked our colleagues and arrested them. This is their approach to the teachers of this country who had worked hardly for 30 years” said an informed source to Breathing in Confinement.

The names of some of the detainees at today’s rally, which have been identified by “Breathing in Confinement “, are as follows:

Ms. Dashti, Ms. Eywazi, Ms. Shafiei and Ms. Sharifi and Mr. Mohammad Ebrahim Pajouhesh, Mr. Ghazanfari, Mr. Sarfejoo, Mr. Manouchehr Amiri, the retired teachers of Tehran and  several other retired teachers from Mazandaran, including Ms. Nasseri, along with her sister, Mr. Omrani, Mr. Bijan Elhampour, and Mr. Elhami, as well as a number of army retirees.

So far, there has been no information on the whereabouts of the detainees.

It is noteworthy that according to Article 4 of the Constitution, peaceful assemblies are not prohibited.
