Breathing in Confinement: Seyed Mohammadreza Razavifard, a lawyer, has been sentenced to a lengthy term of imprisonment on security-related charges following a ruling issued by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Qom.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the lawyer was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment on the charge of “propaganda activity against the national security of the country”, pursuant to Article 4 of the Law on Intensifying Punishment for Crimes Against National Security.
The hearing in Mr Razavifard’s case was held on 26 May before Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Qom.
According to published information, he is currently released on bail pending the outcome of legal proceedings. He has formally appealed the first-instance verdict, and the case will be referred to the Qom Provincial Court of Appeal for review.
