Breathing in Confinement: Hojjat Al-Mohammadi, a political prisoner imprisoned in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, has been sentenced to 21 years of discretionary imprisonment.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Hojjat Al-Mohammadi was sentenced in November last year by Branch Three of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court to a total of 21 years of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state,” “disrupting public order,” and “cooperation with groups opposed to the state.” The sentence was recently formally communicated to him in Ahvaz Prison.
According to published reports, during the proceedings of this case, Mr Al-Mohammadi was tried jointly with Mohammad Tahmasebi.
Hojjat Al-Mohammadi, aged 40, the father of a young child and a resident of Izeh County, was arrested on 16 September 2024 by security forces at his home in Izeh. Following interrogation procedures at the detention facility of the Ahvaz Intelligence Department, he was transferred to Ward 5 of Sheiban Prison.
According to received reports, he experienced poor mental health during his detention and suffered several episodes of nervous breakdowns. He is currently reported to be living under difficult conditions.
According to available information, Hojjat Al-Mohammadi had previously also been arrested and convicted in connection with his activities.
