15 Prisoners Transferred to Solitary Cells in Ghezel Hesar Prison for Execution

Breathing in Confinement – At least 15 prisoners who had been arrested on “drug-related charges” and sentenced to death were transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison, for the implementation of their sentences.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Sunday, 21 September 2025, at least 15 prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison were transferred to solitary cells in preparation for execution. Their identities have been verified by Breathing in Confinement but are being withheld.
These prisoners had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. Several other death row prisoners had already been transferred to solitary confinement in recent days.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
