Breathing in Confinement – Farshad Dastmardi, one of those arrested during the February 2025 protests in Dehdasht, has been sentenced to prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Farshad Dastmardi, who was detained during the protest gatherings in February 2025 in Dehdasht, has been sentenced by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court II of Kohgiluyeh County, presided over by Judge Karim Raeisi. He was convicted of “propaganda against the regime,” “assembly and collusion with intent to act against national security,” and “insulting the Supreme Leader,” receiving a total sentence of 6 years, 3 months, and 1 day in prison.

According to the report, Mr Dastmardi was arrested alongside others on charges of attempting to incite unrest and insecurity and disturbing public order during the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution at the main square of Dehdasht in February 2025. A source familiar with the case stated that following his arrest, he was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture, including a so-called “mock execution.” His family was also reportedly subjected to pressure and threats; security agents are said to have told his father: “Prepare your son’s shroud.”

Farshad Dastmardi had previously been arrested during the nationwide protests in 2022.
