A report on the situation of Majid Hosseini Nejad in Evin Prison

Breathing in Confinement: Despite serving one year of his five-year sentence, Majid Hosseini Nejad, the political prisoner in Hall 9 of Andarzgah 8 in Evin Prison, has been denied the right to leave. On October 31, 2020, to serve his sentence, Majid was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the civil activist and political prisoner in Evin, Majid Hosseini Nejad, has been denied the right to leave, despite serving more than a year of his five-year sentence. On October 31, 2020, after appearing in Branch 1 of the Evin Prison’s Sentence Enforcement Court, he was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison.
In January 2018, at Revolution Square in Tehran, he was arrested by the IRGC intelligence agents and transferred to Ward 2A of Evin Prison. In February of the same year, he was temporarily released from prison on a 200 million Toman bail pending the trial.
On April 7, 2019, Majid Hosseini Nejad was sentenced by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by Judge Moghiseh, to six years in prison on charges of “propaganda activities against the regime” and “conspiracy to disrupt national security.”
On July 18, 2020, his sentence was upheld in absentia, by Branch 36 of the Court of Appeals. According to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, 5 years of imprisonment is applicable to him.
On October 31, 2020, to serve his sentence, Majid was arrested in Branch 1 of the Evin Courthouse and transferred to Evin Prison.
