Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi receives a 10-year prison sentence

Breathing in Confinement: Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi, one of the signatories of the statement of 14 political activists for the resignation of Ali Khamenei, was sentenced by Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad to 10 years in prison.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi, a teacher and civil activist, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad.

Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi was arrested on Wednesday, September 1, this year, in Bandar Anzali.

This sentence is related to his case in 2019 and was issued in accordance with Article 498 of the Islamic Penal Code, by Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad on the charge of forming a group with the intention of disrupting the security of the country. The ruling was final because Mr. Shahroudi did not appeal it.

Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi was arrested on October 11, 2018 by the security forces of Mashhad. The trial of Mr. Vahedian was held on November 21, 2018 in Branch 903 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad, and finally on December 30, 2018, he was released from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on 350 million Tomans bail awaiting the trial.
