Breathing in Confinement– The “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign, led by political prisoners, continued in its ninety-fifth week across fifty-four prisons in the country, emphasising popular solidarity in the face of the wave of executions.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, political prisoners in the ninety-fifth week of the “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign issued a statement in which they highlighted the vast scale of repression and the unprecedented increase in issuing and carrying out death sentences. They stressed the need for civil resistance and public solidarity against judicial and security violence. This campaign, which has amplified the voices of families and prisoners sentenced to death in dozens of prisons, called on all freedom-seekers not to remain silent in the face of this cycle of violence and to join collective efforts to stop this trend.

The full text of the statement for the ninety-fifth week of the “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign is as follows:

Continuation of the “Tuesdays Against Execution” Campaign in Its Ninety-Fifth Week Across 54 Prisons

In this week of the “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign, once again we reaffirm our commitment to standing against the machinery of repression and state-sponsored killing. By remembering the martyrs of the November uprising — more than 1,500 women, men and teenagers who gave their lives for freedom, those who refused to bow to humiliation and rose up against tyranny and oppression — we insist on continuing their path until the complete abolition of the death penalty and the realisation of freedom and equality. As long as injustice and oppression persist, November continues.

We enter the ninety-fifth week of this campaign at a time when the renewed confirmation of the death sentences of three political prisoners in Sheyban Prison in Ahvaz (Alireza Mardasi, Farshad Ettemadifar and Masoud Jam’ei) once again reveals the depth of cruelty and the normalisation of judicial-security violence against protesters and ordinary citizens.

In the past week, a prisoner was executed publicly in a medieval fashion, and the number of executions since 20 October has now exceeded 250 — a shocking figure that reflects the catastrophic scale of state violence and repression in Iran.

The “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign, which to this day has amplified the voices of families, activists and death-row prisoners in 54 different prisons in Iran, once more emphasises:

We, the people, are the only shield protecting prisoners from the gallows.

We call on all freedom-seeking people of Iran — in every city, every neighbourhood and with every possible means — not to remain silent in the face of this horrifying wave of executions, and to raise their voices of protest in every form and at every level against the enforcement of death sentences.

We must support the families who, week after week, gather with courage, grief and hope in front of prisons and judicial institutions to protest the pending execution of their loved ones. And once again, we stress that only through solidarity and collective protest can this machinery of killing be halted.

On Tuesday, 18 November 2025 , in the ninety-fifth week of the campaign, prisoners in the following 54 prisons are on hunger strike:

Evin Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Ghezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3 and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison (Karaj), Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Varamin Prison, Choobindar Prison in Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langeroud Qom Prison, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Isfahan Prison, Dastgerd Isfahan Prison, Sheyban Ahvaz Prison, Sepidar Ahvaz Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Nezam Shiraz Prison, Adelabad Shiraz Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Firouzabad Fars Prison, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison, Kahnouj Prison, Tabas Prison, Mashhad Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Roudsar Prison, Haviq Talesh Prison, Azbarom Lahijan Prison, Dizel-Abad Kermanshah Prison, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Bukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, and Ilam Prison.
