Breathing in Confinement: Mahmoud Mehrabi, a political prisoner in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, has been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan Province. Mr. Mehrabi was arrested in February 2022.

According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, quoting Mahmoud Mehrabi’s sister, on the current day, May 5, 2024, Branch 5 of the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan has sentenced Mahmoud Mehrabi to death on charges of “corruption on earth.”

According to Mr. Mehrabi’s lawyer, the verdict has been issued by the court of first instance, and they will appeal it.

As per the reports, Mahmoud Mehrabi’s indictment was issued in October last year on 187 charges, including corruption on earth, by the Second Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Mobarakeh City in Isfahan Province.

Based on the indictment, which was issued following complaints from 77 plaintiffs, Mahmoud Mehrabi has been accused of “corruption on earth through widespread dissemination of lies on his Instagram page, propaganda against the regime, incitement of military and law enforcement forces to neglect their duties, incitement of people to riots and killings, insulting the founder and current leader of the Islamic Republic,” and other charges.

Mahmoud Mehrabi, a political prisoner imprisoned since February 2022, has been charged with 187 offences, including “corruption on earth,” issued in October of this year.
