Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj: Transfer of 5 Prisoners to Solitary Confinement for Execution

Breathing in Confinement: At least five prisoners, convicted of drug-related charges and murder, have been transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison for the execution of their sentences.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least five prisoners facing charges related to drugs and murder were transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj in preparation for their executions. The identities of two of these prisoners, Iraj Ahadi and Shahram Mansouri, have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
According to a report from Breathing in Confinement, one prisoner, Iraj Ahadi, a resident of Yaftabad, Tehran, was arrested eight years ago on murder charges and sentenced to death. He was moved to solitary confinement on Saturday, November 2, for the execution. Another prisoner, Shahram Mansouri, from Eslamshahr, who was also convicted of murder, was transferred to solitary on Sunday, November 3 in preparation for his execution.
Additionally, three other prisoners facing drug-related charges, one of whom is an Afghan national, have also been transferred to solitary confinement for execution. The identities of these prisoners are under investigation.
Ghezel Hesar Prison holds the highest execution rate among prisons in the country. According to reports, Iranian authorities hang at least three prisoners every Wednesday in this prison.
