Hearing Held for Four Azerbaijani Activists at Tabriz Revolutionary Court

Breathing in Confinement – On Tuesday, 4 June 2025, a court hearing was held at Branch 15 of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abdi, to examine the charges against four Azerbaijani (Turk) citizens.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the individuals – Hamed Yeganeh Pour, Araz Ebrahimnejad, Youresh Mehralibeyglu, and Ebrahim Avazzadeh – were previously arrested in 2023 on charges including forming and participating in anti-regime groups and associations, membership in opposition organisations, and conspiracy and collusion to commit crimes against national security. All were later released on bail.
• Hamed Yeganeh Pour, from Maragheh City, was arrested by intelligence forces in Tabriz in November 2023 and released on bail in December.
• Araz Ebrahimnejad, a resident of Tabriz, was arrested in September 2023 following a raid on his home. He was detained for three months and released in December.
• Youresh Mehralibeyglu, from Hadishahr who was previously also arrested for civil activism, was detained in February 2024 and later released on bail.
• Ebrahim Avazzadeh was arrested in Tehran in October 2023 and transferred to the Tabriz Intelligence Office. He was also released on bail in December.
The preliminary investigation into their charges was conducted last year at Branch 15 of the Tabriz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office. Details regarding the legal proceedings or the content of the defendants’ statements have not yet been made public.
