Breathing in Confinement: Following the transfer of Navid Khoshnazar to an undisclosed location, no reliable information is available regarding his health, whereabouts, or conditions of detention.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, lawyer Farzaneh Tabanian announced on her X account that there continues to be no information regarding the status of her client, Navid Khoshnazar.

She stated that more than one month has passed since Navid Khoshnazar was transferred from prison to an undisclosed location, and no official information has been provided regarding his place of detention, physical condition, or circumstances of confinement. Ms Tabanian emphasised that responsibility for safeguarding the life and well-being of this prisoner rests with the judiciary and the Prisons Organisation.

Previously, on 17 February, Ms Tabanian wrote on her social media account that more than 70 days had passed without any information regarding her client’s situation. According to her, after Navid Khoshnazar attended the Intelligence Office in Izeh, he was deprived of telephone contact and communication with both his family and legal representative.

According to Ms Tabanian, a case has been opened against this citizen at Branch Two of the Investigative Prosecutor’s Office in Izeh. However, despite formally declaring her representation, she has reportedly been prevented from officially registering as his lawyer in the case. Initially, charges including “propaganda against the system” and “assembly and collusion against national security” were brought against him, and a two-month temporary detention order was issued. This detention order was challenged and was ultimately overturned by Criminal Court Two. Nevertheless, he was not released, even upon the provision of bail.

According to the lawyer, inquiries made through the Supervisory Board of Prosecutors’ Offices revealed that a new charge had been brought against Navid Khoshnazar and that a further temporary detention order had been issued on that basis. However, the details of the new charge and the status of the proceedings remain unclear.

Navid Khoshnazar, a 26-year-old resident of Izeh, was arrested on 6 December 2025 after attending the local Intelligence Office to follow up on and recover personal belongings that had previously been confiscated, including his mobile phone and laptop. These items had been seized during an earlier security raid on his home.

It should be noted that he had previously been arrested in April 2025 during a memorial ceremony for Hamed Solhshour, one of those killed during the 2022 protests.

The continuing lack of information regarding this prisoner’s whereabouts, together with his inability to communicate with his lawyer and family, has raised serious concerns about respect for his fundamental rights and adherence to fair trial principles.
